standards and CSS in Internet Explorer 7

In the IEblog there are some comments on what will occur regarding standards compliance and CSS rendering in the upcoming release of Internet Explorer 7. There is a list of “finally” fixes that will be first seen in Beta 2. One feature that I have been anxious for is alpha channel in PNG images. That’s in there. Also,

they make it clear that they won’t pass the acid2 test, but it looks as though they want to make the lives of web developers as easy as possible by complying to standards. (According to the blog, Acid2 includes a list of features beyond the standards which are a “wish list” of standards.) I like what I’ve seen on the list of what’s been fixed and added as far as standards support though. They do admit that Explorer is behind the game in CSS standards support. Hopefully we’ll see them get a little more up to speed in the coming IE 7.
