Yahoo home page overhaul
Well, overhaul might be a bit extreme…. but Yahoo’s home page has got a facelift of sorts with some Web 2.0 goodness and customizability. It does look nice and has been getting noticed. Good reviews of the new look have tagged it everything from a minor change to a major re-design.
I like the look, in some ways it seems a bit less cluttered than before. I’d personally like an even less cluttered than a portal approach, but for a portal I suppose they’ve done well. The active (Web 2.0 asynchronous Javascript kind of) content seems a bit sluggish in this trial. It acted as though hovering over the Mail tab took a bit of a sluggish start and stop and finally painted in with some details, so they may have some streamlining to do. (Or I may be impatient…)
Anyway, the old version is still available (at least for now) if for no other reason than comparison. (Look at the upper left hand corner of their main page.)
